P4/5 Have Their Say

Primary 4 and 5 took part in some of the activities of our Rich Task and provided some of the art we displayed at the exhibition.  We asked them to give us a quote to put onto our edublog about what they thought of the project or the exhibition.

“I was nervous about people coming to see my artwork but then I started to enjoy it!” Lauren, P4.

“I thought it was the best piece of work I have ever done.”  Michelle, P5.

“I liked the exhibition.  It was good fun!”
Iona, P4.

“On the Opening Night I thought more people would have asked more questions and written more comments in the guestbook.”  Eve, P4

“I was happy because I thought my art was good.”  Fiona, P5.

“I was really proud of my pictures and people asked questions about them.”  “When the Art Exhibition opened I felt proud to show off my work.”  Bethany, P5.

“I was nervous when people spoke about my artwork.”  Ruben P6

“I thought everyone put a lot of hard work into their pictures, everything was nice.”  Stuart, P5.

“I was a weird feeling watching people looking at my artwork.”  Joseph, P5.

“I was worried people would think my work was rubbish but people bought it so they must have like it.”  Sophie, P5.

“It was chaos but fun at the same time.”“I enjoyed doing the art exhibition and hope we do something like this again.”  Madeleine, P5.

“I had a wonderful time doing the project.”  Mitch Graham, P5.

“I liked all the work I did.”  “Someone bought it; they must have thought it was good.”  Aiden, P4.

“It’s hard to keep Still Life still when someone is wobbling the table!  I like Still Life.  Doing it I mean.”  Maria, P5.

Ryan’s Art

Ryan’s Art

For my main piece I did an I.C.T. picture. It is called “Attack on Colour Castle.” In this picture there is a dragon rider on a dragon which is spitting fire at colour castle.
I also did another I.C.T. picture called “Never Ending Corridor” which has a Ninja in the corridor trying to find his way out but he never will.
I also did a watercolour, a painting and a box.
For my watercolour I created a landscape of a hillside.
My painting is of an evil face .
My box is of a face smiling with a shark in it.

All about my Artwork

For my still life piece I brought in two apples, one carrot and two bananas.  I made the fruit and vegetables into a shape of a smiley face.  I used the apples for the eyes, the carrot for the nose and the bananas for the mouth.  The material I used to create it was oil pastels.  Then I chose the backing colour and framed it with the help of Mrs Gillies.

To begin my Emotions picture I was given a sheet of A4 paper with eight small faces on it.  I had to draw eight different emotions!  Then I had to decide which one I liked best.  I chose my angry face.  Next I had to draw a large one on the back of the paper with all the decorations on it.  Finally I got to paint it.  When I was finished I chose a frame.  I used a red frame which I thought went really well because the face was red.

My main piece was photography.  I went outside during art time and took pictures.  I took them of the puzzled walls and landscapes.  Then I came inside and uploaded the photos onto the computer.  One of the photos I took looks like a ghost and the other one looks like a van.  I printed them off.  Then I framed them.  The landscapes are in two blue A5 frames and the puzzled walls are in a trio frame.

Lorna Mitchell came to our school to help us make our boxes with our special things in it.  I brought in my Tigger key ring, my heart key ring and my Kitty jewellery box.  I went to the beach to find interesting shells.  I put one next to my jewellery box and the other on the background.  This was a really fun task!

I took a picture of Eilidh, Aila, Lynsay and Morbheinn for my Red Room. Then I uploaded them onto the computer and printed them off.  I got a paint tray of watercolours and carefully washed over their faces.  I waited for that to dry.  While it was drying, I painted my canvas red.  When they were both dry, I stuck the photograph onto the canvas.  Then I looked for red noses.  I found glittery noses and glued them on.  It took a while because the noses kept falling of. Finally they set and some of the class put the canvases up on the wall.

When I was doing my self portraits, I had to draw myself in 20 years time.  I got a mirror and drew myself on the piece of paper with a pencil.  Then when I was finished I went over my drawing with coloured pencil.  I thought that this challenge was hard but I enjoyed it!

When I had finished all my artwork, Mrs Macalister said that I could make something out of clay so I decided to make a night scene.  There was a star and moon shaper so I used them.  I made the stars and moon and waited for them to dry over night then I painted them gold, blue and silver.  The gold paint on the stars kept on running so I left them to dry and they turned out fine! There was an extra box so I was allowed to use that.  I painted the box dark blue and just sat the stars and the moon in while the paint was wet.  When the box was dry, I lifted it up to see if the clay would fall out but it didn’t.  Then I asked who knew how to put the boxes up on the wall.  Jane said that she did so she helped me.

I have two favourite pieces.  They are my Red Room and my main piece. I like my landscape photograph.  I think it’s the best photograph I have ever taken!!

What Lynsay did.

My Art Work

For my Art Exhibition I took a local photo of a hill called Bengullion. When I got the camera I went outside to take a photo of the hill. When I looked at the hill I thought it was so lovely I had to take a photo of it. The sky was lovely as well. After I took the photo of it, I showed it to the teacher, and she said that it was nice.
Then we put it in a frame.
My second picture is a still life. One day the teacher told us to take something into school to draw. I took in a couple of papers and a pen. Then I drew it and I tried to make it like a story. After I had drawn the outline I put in some shading and it worked. Then I wrote a little sentence and it said,’’When she looked in to the sun light”. I called my drawing “The Story.’’
Then I made my main piece. I went outside and took three photos of the three hills. Fortunately it was a nice day so the photos were very clear.
My last picture I created with watercolour paints. I had a picture of mountains that were jaggy. I also put on two people, a house and a little stable. It was surrounded by water. Let’s just say that it was like an island called Jura.

My Art Exhibition

I have seven pieces in the whole art Art Exhibition. My main piece is a T-shirt, well i’ve done two but my main one has a Scotland flag made with sequins. I really enjoyed making it.
Then I did the same process with the other T-shirt except I put a different pattern on it. On my second one I put two half moon shapes together to make a pattern. Then I chose a background colour to put behind the T-shirts to make them stand out more. Then I framed them.
Next I did a watercolour painting. I did a landscape and called it, “Sunny Days”. Then I framed it. I was really pleased with it.
After that I wrote my artist blurb which is about my life. It took me ages to complete.
Finally I made a picture with glitter paint. It looked like bubbles so that’s what I called it. My last job was to hang everything up.

The Art Exhibition Has Come

Friday 16th March

Our long wait was finally over! It was the opening night of our Art Exhibition. During school hours Jennifer, Natasha, Aila and Zoe went shopping to get all the wine, soft drinks and food. After school some children stayed behind to help get ready and set the food out then everyone else arrived at the school at 6:45pm to get ready for our guests arriving. We were all assigned jobs, Jennifer was a waitress in the hall serving drinks. Natasha was the accountant with a little help from her friends in primary 5! Eilidh gave a small but impressive speech. And lastly, Morbheinn was a sales girl in the Main Room.
Loads of people turned up at 7:00pm to view our spectacular artwork. At about 7:30pm there were about 100 people there, so the place was very, very busy. It seemed very hot inside the school because it was so crowded! There were a lot of paintings sold. Morbheinn sold 48 paintings and sculptures. She thought her job was very hard work because she never got a break. Natasha thought her job was difficult because it involved a lot of maths. Jennifer thought her job was not too hard but not too easy. Friday night was a blast and we all hoped that Saturday and Sunday would be just as good!

Saturday 17th March

Saturday had come but it wasn’t as lively as Friday night. Morbheinn and Jennifer came at 1:00pm for their jobs. Morbheinn worked as a waitress for a while and then on the door. Jennifer was the accountant at the door. Saturday might not have been as lively as Friday night but still we all had a good time.

Sunday 18th March

It was Sunday, the last day of our Art Exhibition. Jennifer was at the school at 1:00pm to start working. At 2:00pm Natasha arrived Then at 3:30 pm Morbheinn arrived to start her shift. Sadly, on Sunday not many people came to view our artwork so there was loads of baking left over. Fortunately for us we got to eat some of the baking (it was really yummy!) We even got to take some home. Natasha went home at 4:45pm, then Jennifer went home at about 5:00pm and Morbheinn stayed a bit longer and went home at 5:30pm
The Art exhibition was really fun and exciting and we hope we can do something like this again!

Art Exhibition

Last Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon we held an Art Exhibition as you may already know.
Now we are going to tell you a bit about it.
Friday night was a cheese and wine evening. We all had different jobs like Aila and Jane were serving drinks, Zoe did the sales, Jamie was a door man and Natasha was at the table collecting the money made from the sales. To open the evening Eilidh made a speech welcoming everyone and asking guests to sign our Guest Book.
Also on the Friday night Tiffany was filming Jessie-May going around asking people what their first impression was as they walked into the school.
On the Saturday afternoon there was tea and coffee provided. Zoe was serving teas and coffees. Only a few people came on the Saturday afternoon, Jamie was collecting the entry fees, Aila was doing the sales in The Red Room and Jane was doing the classroom sales.
Zoe was helping serve teas and coffees again on the Sunday.
